In the west-coast of the great continent Africa,
Lies my country
It is a great nation and is so called,
'The Giant of Africa'
Hmm, I wonder.
She is blessed with all, yet all is wasted,
Given all, but throws them away
Pleaded with to brace up
But she refuses to listen to reason.
She dictates fine policies
Yet fails to carry them out.
Attempts to operate like her more mature mates
But she crumbles because she has no foundation.
It is for all these things that my nation has suddenly become a
Country of woe.
Corruption is the worst happening all around
Much has been lost never again to be found.
Mingled so much is it in the blood of the citizens
Money has become the master over reason
An evil spear willed by the nation rulers
And fast spreading amongst local dwellers.
Each citizen now a highly rated suspect
Often tailed, checked and double-checked
A curse though it appears, it will not ruin my nation
Here I stand full of determination
To survive in a world is for the highest bidder
I've grown so clever I can blend with any whether
Our lies have made us each other's foe
And our great nation has become a country of woe.
Mister Democrat praise our policies
Poor implementation turned that into fallacies
A world quite terrible to live in
Elections end up in riggings
Budgets constantly in deficit, our debts doubled
All these keep my nation troubled
I rest no more for all I've seen
Indeed it's like one bad dream
However we can still seek some advice to use
And end the honesty that we abuse.
If we in sincerity faced up to our problems
Positive I am that we can solve them
But if you think what I say should not be so
I'm afraid our great nation shall remain a country of woe.
My nation promised their children a better tomorrow
Why then are their hearts filled with such sorrow?
It is because they have lost all hope
Their dream of brighter days vanished beyond scope
How can they be happy living in poverty.
In hunger, dishonesty and apathy.
O the future of the youngsters is in disarray
For hunger threatens to take the souls away
But wait, if we do not say die,
A flicker in our minds asks us why
We fail to do the things that are right
Let us apply conscience and use our sights
Already I see a twinkle glow
Use it and save this county of woe.
The ugly situation affects all in general
It's like a nation preparing its own funeral
Fraud and deception constant in the citizens view
"They started it so it must continue".
Corruption raising non-stop
"Patience, my own time will come to chop"
An evil intended patience, a dangerous mentality
A knock on the door aimed to ruin humanity.
Stop knocking for I will not let you in
I have to go on living but not in sin.
If we mingle all that is just,
The waters of Jordan will surely cleanse us
And one morning when the cock crows,
We shall find our nation no longer a country of woe. |
